CROSSOVER OUTREACH

Our Annual Services

There are many times of year when extra stresses are put on local families already living with poverty.  These times present opportunities for us to make a difference in the lives of families, especially children who go without through no fault of their own.  Crossover strives to provide additional opportunities for assistance in the hope of sharing the love of Christ, restoring hope, and rebuilding lives.
ANNUAL SERVICES:
Back to School | Character Building Camp | Mobile Food Giveaways | Coats for Kids
Thanksgiving | Christmas at Crossover
ADDITIONAL PROGRAMMING:
Cooking Matters | Flint Mindful Kayaking

Back to School

For many children, going back to school is a fun time of shopping and preparing for a wonderful new year of learning. Unfortunately, for many it's trying to find hand me downs that aren't falling apart or wearing the old faded, stained clothes that really don't fit right.

Each year, we sponsor a minimum of 100 children, providing them with 2 new outfits (including underwear, socks, shirts, and pants), a new pair of shoes, and a new backpack full of school supplies!  Our goal is to send as many children as possible back to school with confidence; ready to learn!

We're signing up kids now!  If you need assistance with school items, please stop in or give us a call at 810-234-2479!

CHARACTER BUILDING Camp

CALL US TO SPONSOR A CAMPER TODAY!

Each summer, Crossover sponsors up to 40 children to go up north for a week long adventure. Our goal is to provide a wonderful camp experience teaching our children Christian values while enjoying swimming, singing, crafts, games, and chances to make lifelong friends.  Sleep-away camp also fosters independence, in a safe and fun environment!

SUMMER 2022, we're headed up to Camp Chickagami!  - SIGN UP IS HAPPENING NOW!
Sign-up is always FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE • CLICK HERE FOR OUR FLYER!

Mobile Food Pantries

We partner with area churches and organizations to sponsor Mobile Food Pantries throughout the year to bring food to area food deserts (local regions without adequate access to grocery stores).  We are blessed to be serving around 500 individuals at each event.

During COVID, most of our mobile food pantries were drive-thru style.  However, we still serve those who walk up too!

WARM WINTER COATS FOR KIDS

Picture
Beginning November 1st, every child in need of a new, warm, winter coat receives one free of charge until we run out!  Typically, over 400 children receive new coats at Crossover every year!  PLUS hats, mittens or gloves, a scarf and if available, warm winter boots!

Thanksgiving

Picture
Since 2009, we have been helping a minimum of 100 families and 20 senior citizens or special needs adults enjoy a typical Thanksgiving meal together by providing all the "fixins" and a voucher to purchase a turkey!

Special Thanks to our supporting churches and our generous sponsors:

Christmas at Crossover

Picture
We start wrapping presents in July and don't stop until Christmas!  For those who struggle to even feed their families, Christmas is a very difficult time.

With your help, Crossover provides uplifts 100 families with gifts for everyone in the household, helping to ensure a blessed and joyful celebration for all!
If you are interested in helping with one or more of these programs, please call us at (810) 234-2479.

Our Additional Programming

Though our focus is on providing free emergency food, clothing and more to those struggling to make ends meet, we collaborate with other area agencies in the attempt to prevent our services from being needed in the future.  What a blessing it would be to put ourselves out of business because everyone had enough to eat, clothing to wear, skills to obtain and maintain their jobs, etc.  To this end, we are working on the following programs:

Cooking Classes

Picture
In collaboration with the MSU Extension, we provide the opportunity for our clients to learn food safety, nutritional information, shopping/budgeting and other techniques to prepare healthier meals for their families and possibly develop skills useful for obtaining meaningful work in the food service industry.  Families also receive small items each week to help insure success in implementing the lessons learned in class!

At the end of the six weeks, students receive a certificate from MSU Extension and a cooking implement to help remove barriers to their success from Crossover.

FLINT MINDFUL KAYAKING

Picture
In collaboration with the Crim Mindfulness Initiative and the Flint River Watershed Coalition, we provide an opportunity for any and all members of our community to learn mindful practices while experiencing nature right here in Flint!

This program is on hold for 2022 but will return in 2023!
